I was having a bit of difficulty in finding a room mate for college. I talked to a few guys and after an hour or two we decided that we were compatible to live together. That’s when I told them that I was gay, but in doing so I was respectable and explained that it is not a defining factor in a person and I that if they were going to be in any way uncomfortable by it then we should not be room mates. Sadly each person was slightly uncomfortable with it, so I decided to be audacious and honest; I decided to post in the 2,000 member Facebook Group for my Class of 2017 for my University. I expected a few likes and maybe a friend request or two from prospective people who were okay with my sexuality and wanted to room with me…
I did NOT expect such a warm welcome.
I am so overwhelmed with joy that I am lucky enough to attend a University with such welcoming and accepting people. Seeing how many people are okay with me being myself is just phenomenal, because it gives me hope for the future.
Thank you, Ohio State Class of 2017! Go Bucks! :)
